The night camera features a proprietary, patented Black Silicon CMOS sensor with a resolution of 1280 x 1024 pixels (60hz). This sensor uses available residual light (stars, full moon or clear sky) to display visible images at night. With a sensitivity of <1 millilux, even with just a little starlight, you have an incredibly clear image. With the Nightwave, you detect a person at night up to a distance of up to 150 meters. The large 40-degree field of view increases your awareness of your surroundings, allowing you to recognize unexpected ships and other obstacles in time. Thanks to its IP67 rating - impact-resistant and submersible for 30 minutes to a depth of 90 cm - the Nightwave is safe to use in the most extreme weather conditions.
The Nightwave is wired and remote. The unit features an analog (NTSC/PAL) output. This is used to connect directly to displays that support analog video-IN. Think of multi-functional displays of various well-known brands. To make this connection you use the supplied cable. In addition, it is possible to live stream images via Wi-Fi to your iOS/Android smartphone or tablet via the free SIONYX app. From your own device, you take photos and videos. The Nightwave streams in 1080x720 HD at 30 frames per second.
On the underside, the camera has a standard 1/4" female threaded connection, so you can attach the Nightwave to numerous tripods and clamps (see optional accessories). The camera can also be mounted upside down, with the software automatically rotating the displayed image 180 degrees. Power is supplied via USB power or via the included video OUT cable (12Vdc) that you plug into the MFD. The image angle of the Nightwave can only be adjusted manually, in terms of height.
Application Sionyx Nightwave

The Nightwave is a nice low-cost night vision goggle for any kind of boating and shipping. The patented sensor allows you to see clear images at night, with the surroundings displayed in color. This is called full-color night vision. Color night vision provides more contrast and color distinction, making the environment easier to view and understand. With the Sionyx Nightwave, it is possible to stay on the water late into the night and you navigate home safely.
Even though the Nightwave is basically designed for use on boats and ships, the night camera can of course be used in any other application. Think of use on vehicles, in your garden or on land, and so on. In fact, using the live-stream function, the camera is multi-purpose.
